Requesting a Home Appraisal Quote in Salt Lake City

Prepare the parcel number, valuation date, purpose and available records before agreeing on a fee or delivery date.

The fee and delivery date depend on the agreed assignment. A lender-program fee schedule is not a quote for an estate, divorce or other privately requested appraisal.

Identify the property and the decision

Provide the parcel number, property type, intended recipient and requested effective date. Identify adjoining lots, separate units and changes not reflected in the county record. Say whether the request concerns today's condition or an earlier date.

Compare the scope before comparing quotes

Ask whether the proposed scope includes an inspection, historical research, more than one parcel, a particular report format or testimony. Confirm what records and access are needed, what the fee includes and how additional work would be authorized.

A county assessment serves a different purpose

Salt Lake County's residential assessment is for property tax and has a January 1 effective date. It is a public record to discuss with the appraiser, not a price quote or a commissioned value opinion for your requested use and date.
